I'm new to this forum, i've been playing guitar for about 5 years and I really want to pursue a career in it. I'd like to hear some stories about peoples experiences in the music industry and I would also love to hear from anybody who is a metal head! Any tips would also be appreciated.

If you really wanna be a pro, play everything, not metal... Also, it's not your musical skills that will make you work, but everything else (if you are a team player, if you are nice, etc.)

I do play everything man. I grew up in a house that loved music. I started to learn how to play old school rock like skynard and april wine. My dad was a player and so were all of his freinds, I just happen to like heavy metal the best.

Its good to see April Wine listed there. They get my vote as the most underappreciated band out there. Pay close attention to their arrangements. And see if you agree with my opinion that they are just about the most tasteful rockers around.

April Wine is great, my dad really got me into listening to them. They were some of the first guitar i have ever learned how to play.

METAL METAL METAL Urrrrr... Yeahheahheahheah!

i play now bout two years and one of the major reasons i started playin was Metallica. today i play a lot of style but metal is one of my favorites.
i play in a band and our stuff is mostly metal but we has kindda unique style of our own.
you surely found the posibbilities hidden in distorsion (MetalZone pedal is most preferable and Wah too)
glad to see that at least one guy hear likes metal too

(now try to count how many times i typed metal in this post... :))
God sent meat,

Metal is my life. I bought my first metallica album when i was 11 and I have been their biggest fan ever since. Then I got into a lot of Slayer, Pantera and Sepultura. If it weren't for heavy metal I would not have been half the guitarist I am today.
