Just curious if anyone bought this game for their PS3. looks interesting. I would think it could get you to practice longer. I don't care what the reviews say about it being an instruction video, There is no substitute for a good guitar teacher. That being said, before I drop my good money on a game, My question is, Is it worth the price???

I havent had the opportunity to try it yet but I heard from my music teacher thats its pretty good. Basically you learn the real notes of songs. When you play at easy level they wont make you play all the notes. When you go on higher levels, you play all the notes from the song.
He also told me that there's a tiny lag between what you play and what comes out from the speaker in the game. But maybe there's some way to fix this.

Since you play with your reel guitar, it works out your fingers like you would when you play "for reel". But my concern with the game is that you will learn the song note for note by heart without learning the music theory behind it and that's a key factor in our growth as musicians. Its cool to play a song we like but when it will come to improvisation/jamming over the song, you wont know what to do (unless you have a good ear and can figure everything out just by listening).

I'm thinking of buying it since I have a little boy that will enjoy this game a lot. At the end of the day, theres no right or wrong. If it makes you play more and enjoy music more, its good :)

Well if my son was home with me still, I would buy the game. We have the empty nest now. My son was not a guitar player till later in his studies of piano. He was taking lessons as soon as he was able to read a book and continued all through his college years, getting his masters. Now he has his own family and the world goes around. He does not play any more which is a shame. he has a full plate with his job being VP of Student affairs on a Kentucky campus. This man self taught himself guitar, which I found to be awesome. he never came to me about it much. I did lug him around and his equipment from gig to gig in his time. They were good band in there time. At that time I was not playing in a band, I always told myself if playing out becomes a job I am going to quit and that's what happened to me. Now I just enjoy playing and studying Guitar Tricks in my bedroom and I am happy with that. I have 50 years of playing off and on and I do pick up the lessons fairly quickly. My problem now is trying to remember them. I also heard there is some lag time on that game. I heard there are some different hookups to avoid the problem. I just wanted to hear some opinions before I dropped that much money on a game. Thanks for the input, Pete

A month or two ago there was a thread discussing the value of the game as guitar instruction. Opinions were mixed as are reviews on the 'net. There did seem to be some positive comments about such usefulness once equipment tweaks were done to compensate for the delay between playing notes and speaker sound. Others thought the lack of flexibility allowing progess within the game a hindrance....

Darned if I can find GT thread. If others can't help out, I suggest a Google search of Rock Smith reviews.

I have the game now but find myself struggling with it....I'm not much of a gamer, so I guess maybe it just takes some getting used to. I wish they had a better song selection....it seems most of the songs are alternative ones that I've never heard of :-)
