Hi all.

I still struggle to find a convenient setup allowing to follow the video tutorials online and to work through them on my guitar with not too much tangle. The ideal setup would be to just hook my guitar up to the computer without any additional hardware. Once I tried a quite handy Amplitube audio interface, but this did not allow to have the virtual amp and the video sound working at the same time ( due to ASIO limitations on my Windows box).

Does anyone of you have better ideas than I had ?

Thank you for any contribution.

Wolfgang

I use Peavey ReValver Mk III on my PC - can watch videos and play guitar at the same time with no ASIO issues. Never tried Amplitube, so I can't comment on if it's just my PC rig is fine playing both or if it's a software issue for you.

I will give that a try. Would you let me know the type of audio interface you are using ? Thanks again.

It's just a Creative X-Fi Pro Audio. Plug my guitar into the Line-In - set ReValver to use ASIO, 4ms latency (less seems to create horrible noise) and we're good to go :)

Meth3rlence,

I wanted to let you know I tried working with your approach and it worked. However, sound quality and latencies were quite poor with my notebook hardware. Spent several hours playing with the ASIO4ALL driver, which assures good sound quality and latency, but for the price of making the sound device unavailable for other applications. This seems to be by design and explains, why the web browser sound stops working as soon as I run the virtual amp application (both as standalone or VST in Reaper). I purchased a 10€ USB sound card in order to have a 2nd device available, which turned out to be quite complicated to setup and made me drift away from my initial goal to have a setup as simple as possible.

This is why I decided to stop wasting time trying to mix the sound of web browser and guitar on the computer. Now I use a cable more than initially wanted and hook up the computer to to the AUX input of my KORG Pandora 4XD. That works fine now.

Again, I appreciate you contribution !
