Hi all!
Okay, I've borrowed an acoustic guitar. So, where do I start? Any suggestions or web links for a complete beginner? Thanks!

Well you could start with learning how Tabelature works!! And then check out some of the easy vintage tricks on www.guitartricks.com

I believe that there also is explaination of the Tab-writing on guitartricks.

There is a page on guitartricks that teaches tab
www.guitartricks.com/tab.shtml
and the vintage tricks are a good primer. But, if you have never played a note, they may cause you some trouble.
The links page has some good links to other lesson sites
www.guitartricks.com/guitlinks.shtml

I think you might like this one

Check it out and let us know how you do.

I too have just started, altough I'm on electric. Learing tabs is the first thing to do. Get used to playing chords.. its pme of the harder things to do...
then download some tabs and get movin!
This is me typing.

jedi- there are no tricks to chords, just practice, practice, practice. once you get your dexterity to a certain point, chords will be a breeze to play, but also, you'll find that you can learn new chords and the fingerings extremely fast. its all a matter of practice though.

I think that a real beginer should start
with some clasic stuff It is harder to find
clasic music for guitar than for piano
but it's better to start with it than with
blues or rock. I have played clasic guitar for year, and then when i started to learn blues and rock it went much easier.
A good clasic composer to learn is Bach
"They think im crazy..
but i know better.
It is not I who am crazy.
It is I who am mad.."

I'm just doing the GuitarTricks Fundamentals course in the order that it's laid out. Is that not the best method for learning ?

At guitar fundamentals 1, the very first lesson. It's taught here on Guitartricks.com. They even have a free trial period.

a real beginner should learn basic techniques, tutorial from youtube, you could also join intermediate sessions nearby.
