I think some of the questions that have to be asked are not so much what amps these players used to get that tone although thats a good place to start, but what amp can you use to get that tone? They sound Fenderish to me but that means it could one of about 20-30 different amps, Larry Carlton for example is known to use Howard Dumbles, so that really reduce the choices alot, and also how will you be using the amp? 100watt amps are not well suited for midnite practice in the apt. The Diezel should be able to produce that kind of tone, it will take about every tube known to man, and it should for that price, and if you got that kind of cash, tone shouldn't be a problem, their are more great amps made today than their ever has been, Whats going to be practical for you? P.S. I wish I to make this kind of terible decision, you lucky dog!
