I've been playing for years, mostly what i call Sears and Roebuck chords.
Now I'm learning 7th and 9th etc. The C9th is driving me nuts. Just hare to get to and make it ring out true, anybody go any suggestions?

Hi Wayne,

Is it the C9th on the third fret? Where it is the (C) second finger on the 3rd fret 5th string, (E)first finger on the 2nd fret 4th string, and the third finger flattened across strings (B flat) 3,(D) 2 and (G)1 on the third fret?

Arpeggiate(play each note singularly instead of strumming it) each new chord and let the notes ring out. Your goal is to make each note sound clean and even. If you get any buzz or the note is not sounding clean in any way check how close your finger is to the fret. Remember you are training your fingers to move, bend and sit in a different position to your "Sears and Roebuck" chords. When I first began learning new jazz type chords I felt exactly the same way as you are feeling and now, by arpeggiating each new chord first to make it sound clean, I can play these chords with ease. Be patient with yourself and strive to make the notes sound clean. And as my guitar teacher always says "True mastery will develop with time...it cannot be rushed".
Commit to Mastery!
