Hello all,

My issue is the screeching sound my fingers cause as I move up and down the neck. It wasn't much of an issue when I was playing only the acoustic, but with an electric the tiniest whisper becomes an irritating shout. What can I do to solve this?

Thanks,
Svein

Take your fingers off the strings?

Try to practice with a clean tone before moving to overdrive, so you can hear better what you'r doing. Check what all your fingers and palm are doing while playing not just the ones you're picking. Good luck!

What you can do is mute the strings with the picking hand while the other hand is just moving, not playing. But like hunter said, take your fingers of the string when move up :)

Hi Svein,

You could switch to Elixir strings if you are not using them already. The are designed to help eliminate this sceech. They are not exactly the cheapest but the do last 3-5 longer than other brands out there. So the cost equals out.
