Hello

So i have bought the new Marshall AFD 100 head. It's sounds great! It has a build in Power control so that you can cranck up the Master volume so the tubes get driven hard. Then the power control let you choose how many watts you want to play with. when it's all the way down it uses 0.1 watt, and when all the way up 100 watts. When i turn the power control up over 1 watt there comes a buzzing like a ''low string against the fret ringing sound'' especially when i play the lower strings?... I tried it on all my guitars and it's the same. Let me say now that i am not playing out of a Marshall cabinet. Im playing out of a Framus cabinet (it has 120 watts i think).
Can it be the cabinet that simply can't take that much gain power which the amp has, or is it the amp itself maybe?
Should i buy a Marshall cabinet?
What could the problem be?

Please help me. It's a killer amp and i want it working perfectly! :(

I read some reviews and did not see any complaints about this. You should take it back and let them check. Also compare with another of the same model if you can.

[Edit] Although it could be quite normal. That other 99.9 watts has to drain somewhere. What you hear is the hiss if the unused volume being hosed out :D

Seriously, I don't know.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

But on the back of the amp there are lights that indicate if there is something wrong with the tubes, none of these are on so the amp should be okay. I think maybe it's the cab. Im not sure they are good friends with eachother... But i don't know. it's so frustrating cause i can't take it back to them cause i bought it online far away. And their enginners have checked it. I got proof of that. I think it's the cab? Maybe i plugged it in the wrong input in the back? Or maybe it's the biasing that needs ajustment.... SO FRUSTRATING!

I'm not sure what the problem may be. I do not think the cab has anything to do with it, though.

Have you owned a tube amp before (because they make more noise)? Does it occur both with the gain turned way up and turned down? Does it happen when you are playing? Not playing? How about when the guitar is not even plugged in?

It only happens when i play power chords and lower string stuff, i tried the auto biasing feature, it seemed to help. Maybe the tubes needs to be played a bit before they operate perfectly?

I have found tubes start to sound better after several hours. Maybe it is actual fret buzz and the new amp is just much more sensitive than you are used to? Other than that, I'm out of ideas. I am inclined to think it's just a by product of reducing 100 watts down to 1 watt.

This amp can seriously kill with it's tone. It's so killer! I love it. I tried it yesterday running full out on 9 watts and oh my god! Serious rock! It's awesome! Best thing Marshall ever did.

Maybe you are right that it's a by product i don't know.

well thanks for helping me raz :)
