Chord Master?
HI there, im just got the membership, i used to play when i was younger, so i have the basics i guess, im starting all from the top, but im just having trouble with chords, i used to play just for fun so what i used to do was search for a song and look up the necessary chords, and now i got frustrated when i see something like "ok, go to Cm7, and then switch to Emaj" i always have to go to the Chord finder, what can i do to learn and get used to chords? i havent found a pattern yet, what should i do??...Tnks!!..

Hi there. I think what you might be missing is that usually for every lesson there are two tabs below the video that say "All Information" and "Tabs & Notation". Click the "Tabs and Notation" tab to bring it forward. The chords for the lesson should be shown there. I always click this tab BEFORE watching the video lesson, so that I can make sure I know the chords needed for the lesson, or learn them before proceeding with the video.
Hope that helps.
Hope that helps.

Hello Lizard, thanks!, actually yes, thats what i do with lessons, but i mean when you r hanging with friends that know a little more, they seem to know most of the chords by memory, i was just wondering a technique to memorize them fast you know?...or maybe a logical way to bring them up when is needed..dont know, just wondering..

If there is a fast and easy way everyone would play guitar..
Mostly it's practice practice pratice... Learn your note on the fret board.. What chords go together..
I would go thru the fundamental 1 and 2 and relearn what you thought you knew.. Even veteran player here have found out the had learned bad habits..
Memory will come in time.. You have to train your finger to automaticly go where they are supposed to..
Good Luck

Offcourse learning the fretboard and how octave works is the first step.
This is very well explained in the 1st series of guitar fundementals videos here, if I remember correctly.
Then you learn how chords are build. That is also explained here but what I did is also get me a book on chords theory on the side so I dont always have the face glued on the computer screen :P
Quick example of how a chord is build.
A basic chord triad is build with the 1st the 3rd and the 5th of an octave.
So if you want to play a C, the c octave would be
(1st - C, Flat 2nd - C#, 2nd - D, minor 3rd D#, 3rd - E, 4th - F, flat 5th - F#, 5th - G, minor 6th - G#, 6th - A, minor 7th - A#, 7th - B, then back to 1 or 8 - C )
So you pick the 1st of the octave wich is offcourse C then the 3rd is E and the 5th is G. So when you play a C chord you play only those note, with the C being the base note. You add other C's, E's and G's on other strings to make it more "full".
So if you want a Cm7, instead of using the 3rd of the octave u use the minor 3rd and you add a minor 7th.
All that, I didnt know last year. I went threw all the videos in the guitar fundementals 1 and 2 here and got myself a book on music theory applied to the guitar.
So first step, guitar fundementals video series. Very helpfull !
Have a fun journey learning :)
