Hi everyone
I would like some help in knowing which pick ups would be the best to use I want a clear clean sound. The guitar is an old MiM so i know the pick ups it has arent very good, also the knobs and switches are pretty loose and would like some ideas for them.I want something good not the cheapest.
I am 68 years old and just started trying to learn how to play two years ago.I think I waited too long.

Hi Leon,
Welcome to guitar tricks. There are lots of choices for pickups out there. Seymour Duncan makes some great tele pickups. The guy to ask (IMO) would be J.D. Jarrell. Hope you enjoy the site Leon.

Hey Leon,
I'll be glad to help you, but may need some more info. A really big factor in this choice, is what kind of music you want to play. I'm guessing it's country, but be sure to correct me if I'm wrong.

Other factors are, how much you want to spend, and also the tone of the pickup. Some pickups are hotter on the highs, that's what I mean by tone. If you're going to play country, a great bridge pickup would be a Seymour Duncan Alnico II. Nice clean sound, and the twang is there if you want it. It's also reasonably priced, and a popular choice among tele pickers.

I would let someone put it in for you, and replace the knobs, and three way toggle switch. Have them check the neck pickup, and also your jack to make sure you're getting a good connection. You can buy this stuff yourself, and just have someone put it in for you. However, if you don't hear anything buzzing, or any kind of short in the guitar, you may just be able to tighten up the screws.

I could go on about this stuff all night, but I'll stop for now. Let me know if you have any other questions, and also what you decide to put in it.
