Well not you.. I mean you might, I have no way of knowing *ducks*.

but seriously, the song is called You Suck.

I spent a good protion of yesterday writing and recording this one, I was shooting for a vintage vibe in a genre I don't visit often.

Any thoughts before I finalize this one would be most valuable.

You Suck

I like it as it is, so imho you don't have change anything :) but on the other hand it might be a little bit longer.

How do you record everything? Do you play all instruments? I want to start recording song ideas I have but have no idea where to start.

Thanks for the thoughts..

I am a bit old school as far as length on a piece like this..

More people are inclined to listen to a 2 minute song more than once, than listen to a 7 minute song all the way through.. *G*

Truth be told, the ol punk bits I was emulating were pretty much all between 2 and 3 minutes.. it's about as long as we can keep the guitars tuned for.. :)

Thanks again, Peace~!

Hi Hunter.. yes, I play all the instruments, but it isn't required one do so in the modern recording environment.

--

So how do I do it..

Well, I'd have to take you back to about 1967 when I got my hands on my first 2 track reel to reel..

It's been a long journey.. BUT, one you could jump on quickly if so inclined.

--

Everything is recorded on a normal home computer..

Listen, I would be happy to help you get started.. I can give you the URL for a free DAW (digital audio work station.. AKA a 'recorder') and all kinds of links for free virtual instruments and FX.. and even help you get them up and running on your computer..

But I don't know if your interest warrants my investment..

What I mean is, LET ME KNOW if you are serious and want to dig in to the hobby.. I don't mind helping, I just don't want to put up a page of links and ideas and thoughts, and find you never made it back to this corner of cyber space..

So if your still here, and you would like some help getting up and recording for zero dollars (to start, you can invest in better tools if you decide you like it and it is worth it), I will check back in this thread tonight or tomorow morning and see... if you respond I'll gather you some information and tools.

Peace~!

I'd be very much interested in those links as well.. I've been diving into these recording programs ranging from Ultra Rack Guitar Racks to a bunch of Freeware ones... I've always been a computer geek so hopefully I can put the two worlds together and see what I can come up with as well.

Thanks much.. and by the way.. song was great!

There is something more than sex pistols though - like I guess its more polished. The pistols influence is pretty clear. It actually most of all reminds me of Social Distortion - maybe thats just your voice, I also think its the lead guitar. Either way I love it, I could hear this on a punk radio station and easily think it was class and want to buy your record.

I agree with the length thing though, just a BIT longer because it seems on first listen that its gone just at that exact point when you get a taste for it and want to belt out some lyrics with the singer or something.

I'd be interested to know. I've googled for virtual instruments and the choice is so huge I'd appreciate some recommendations. Great song! Thanks.
