Hello everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mark and I have just recently decided to pursue a lifelong dream of learning to play a guitar. After raising several children and retiring from the military after many years I fill it is time to do something for myself. Looking forward to becoming a member of the team as a student.

Hey ma.garris,
It's never too late to learn, one of my best students was retired military. He knew some rhythm techniques when he started taking lessons 3 years ago. Now he's playing lead in a band. Not everyone learns that quickly, but knowing some rhythm patterns, and learning runs really got him fired up. He's learning on his own now, and still picking up some stuff on here too.

He plays in a country band, and is having a blast. He actually gives me credit for it, but he's the one that learned what I taught. Learning the techniques was a big part of it, and knowing the rhythm helped him learn that.

I just wanted to share that story with you, and also wish you luck. Enjoy the site, and let us know if we can help you with anything.
