Figure this is a technique question.

I am pretty new at playing guitar only started last july. I am trying to learn Mr brownstone from guns n' roses.

I am up to the bridge right before the solo. I know the notes.

b5 scratch a5 scratch ect, but for the life of me I cant see how to follow the pattern correctly. Can anyone recomend lessons or something to practice to get used to playing the cords scraching and notes.

lessons I am following is from lick libary. great lesson but does not tell you technique just these are the notes this is the pattern and here it is at tempo.

if anyone could give me some advice on how to practice so I can learn this style.
all i can think is this is naturally how slash plays or drugs did him good. but learning to play like this is eating me alive and i got the drive to learn it.

37 views and no response, I came back to tell how I learned this. I figure others are looking for a answer as well.

start by holding the A string and scraching the A.

A scrach A scr A sc A scc then hold the cord.. and scrach the A

cord b5' scrach b5 scrach. still scraching on the a string.

then get used to the a5 and moving finger back to the A string to scrach.
get used from just leaning the finger off the A from the b5 to the a5 kinda like rocking back forth with your finger between the strings.

a5, scrach(a string). b5 scrach a5 scrach b5 scrach.

B5scrrA5scrrB5scrr scrr pinky over there slide b5! I got it!

once you start to hear the beat it starts to flow. treat the scraches as full notes not just a quick scrach tempo really important. and this is the first time my index on my picking hand hurts, the picking matters alot. got keep it moving.

yup you got it start adding the rest.

once started this way, i play this part better than the rest.. So cleaned it up and ajusted my tone a whole lot less fuzz now off to learn the solo, wah wah start the solo crap.. practice time.

There aren't any scratches in that song as far as I'm aware.

Yeah, I'm confused to what you mean too. You said right before the solo. Can you give a time from the recording?
