Hello good folks

I have a returning problem at the moment, i hope you can advise me and give me courage to keep playing.
I have been playing for 3 years now and i have become very good in that fairly short amout of time. But for me, more and more often now i tend to find my playing not sounding good and exiting like it used to. I get angry and sad!

I really want to become what i want to be you know. I would give anything! I just don't know what to do about this thing i keep getting!

Every word you write to me is a big help for me!

Deepest respect
Casper

Take 2 weeks off as a break. Seriously! :) From your posts over the last couple of years I gather that you sometimes practice all day long. You are probably getting burnt out.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Yeah, but it won't be permanent; you'll recover the same day. You'll be surprised how inspirational taking a break can be.

Every time circumstances cause me to break for even a day or two I return highly motivated, feeling good and creative.

Since you asked the question, I think you have never taken a break. IMO, you really need to do this. It's not good to go OCD on stuff! Maybe not 2 weeks. Just try 2 days. You'll see what I mean.

Also consider the fate of Leona Boyd, the renowned classical guitarist. She literally wore her muscle response out from constant playing and rehearsing. I was reading this in one of the recent guitar mags (Guitar World or Guitar Player if you want to look it up for details). Her muscles just stopped responding. She has to relearn everything and is even needing to use a flatpick because she can't finger pick any more.

This is good food for thought for anyone else out there, too.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Just try a few days first. 2 weeks is probably a bit extreme.

I play pedal steel guitar and I have to lay off for awhile too.Sure it shows when you go back to playing again, but it is so refreshing to have a break every now and then.Somehow I can think clearer about things that were "eating my lunch" before.Try it you'll like it!!You be a much more happier player. And thats what music is all about..........ENJOY!!!!

I find when I take 2 weeks off, I come back with fresh guitar ideas too.

I also find that my life affects my art. Sometimes it's not the guitar playing at all but what's going on in my life, especially emotionally. After all, creating music is an expression of your life and soul.
