Ok so I play for atleast an hour a day. But most of the time I play for many more. However i'm startin to develop some sharp pain in the top of my left wrist, my fretting hand. So i guess im gonna stop playing til it goes away, but was it caused from bad form? Or was it from the numerous days of playing nothing but scales for hours upon hours? What is carpal tunnel syndrome? Im addicted to playing so i wouldnt want to permanently injure myself and not be able to play anymore.

That is carpal tunnel syndrome, and you better consult a sports doctor, fast...
When it's painful, STOP, right there, no questions asked, because if you injure yourself (it comes from doing the same move over and over) it will come back when you play, everytime.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has wrecked many a career. Luckily you seem to have noticed it before it got too bad, that's a good thing. Also, it might just be tendinitus. I had it awhile back, because I was playing too much guitar coupled with lifting weights. My pysiotherapist said, "no more weight lifting", and that was that.

Do yourself a huge favour and wait until it gets better. I suggest seeing a professional. You may find that simply waiting a week then playing maybe half an hour a day for a bit will fix it right up, or maybe you won't have to wait at all. Depends... just don't make it worse!

Thanks for the input. I have taken your advice about not playing till it gets better. I would really be devastated if i couldnt play anymore. Also, ive been takin some anti-inflammatories and keepin ice on it, as well as not using my left arm for any task. Sound like a good idea?

Yup, good idea. Especially things that use your tendons heavily, for example, typing.

My teacher even told me not to use the remote control for the TV, but I think that's a bit of an overkill

I sometimes get hurt while playing my PS2 games. Repetitive motion hurts your arms...

I bought "WWF just bring it" and it hasn't come off the PS2 for months... Greatest wrestling game ever. I love GTA3 too, but I'm stuck at some mission. So I play it when I need to kill people...
