Ok,

So after a few days researching it is coming down to these 2 amps.

price flexability and presets for a noob like me.

So out of thse 2 amps what would be the best.

guitar center have them for the same price with the pedals for the extra features at the same price.

they sound simular to me.

what do you all think is the best for cleans and distortion.

really wanting to play ozzy godsmack manson, lynard, steve ray, ect.

I know the vypyr is a modeling amp. I'm assuming the spider is too? Just based off the names alone I tend to stay away from Line6 stuff. I like Peavey better. I have tried the vypyr out and remember it sounding ok for the price. You have a ton of options for sounds since it is a modeling amp. The thing I remember about the pedals for the vypyr is that there are 2. Sanpera 1 or 2 if I remember right. The second option is the more expensive one ($100 for S1 $200 for S2), but is what you need to fully take advantage of everything you can do with the amp.

I was thinking about buying a vypyr, but after testing and comparing I went with a Valveking 212. Out of your price range though.

1 piece of advice I'd give if you buy from GT though, is to shop online and check out the lowerst price you can get it for. They price match. I was able to save like $200 on my amp because a website had it for a ridiculously low price.

well,

My decision got made for me. A friend a mine emailed me a 50% off any purchase over 500.

So since the vypyr they had at guitar center was having trouble and only one they had in stock was this floor model and since it was really a flip of the coin.

I went ahead with the spider 4 120. compared to what I was using this amp is good.

I even switched my s420 over to 10's instead of nines. well I was up to 4 in the morning because everything I been practicing i was playing smoothly. hmm hey I can do hammer on and pull offs way better than I thought I was.

you said you tend to stay away from line 6 well I got a line 6 is there problems with them?

this spider 4 is nice.

I think this is opinion some people dont like and like brands for various reasons
I own one of each and I like my line 6 75watt way better than my peavy. congrats on your new amp.
