hello,

I am about to spend every bit of overtime I got on a amp. My little frontman 15b is cutting out and dying

I have 600$ so after tax it cannot go over 600.

Now what I am after is something with a nice clean to play like lynard simple man to Heavy distortion Megadeth manson.

Once I learn to play probally mostly ozzy & godsmack.

so here is the delima

for 399 Marshall MG Series MG15FXMSDM Dave Mustaine Megastack Amp Head And Cabinet

now this looks like a nice head with some effects presets and good clean and distortion.

but specs show it as a 15watt and 2 10 inch speakers.

now i am seeing a peavy vyper

or something like this http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/116188/ValveKing(R)%20112%20Combo.cfm

for a little more guitar center got soem half stacks 4x12 100watt for 550 600$

So how do I know what is the better quality. To a beginner like me playing them I want them all.

I am looking to know how to spend my money.

that dave mustaine amp is looking nice. but why 15watt and cost more than some 100 watt amps.

and all i am going by is videos online guitar center dont have all the amps I am checking out in my price range.

but what do I look for is the dave mustaine marshall paying for just a name and it a crap amp ir is the quality there I am not seeing in specs compared to the higher wattage and larger speaker.

since I cannot hear some these amps in person mabey the marshall is best tone and other one hisses and crackles.

please someone explain to me what the difference is and whats worth the price.

how do I really compare amps.

15watt vs 75wtt

2 10inch speakers on 2 12's

seen some 100watt and 4 12's for 600$

explain how to look and compare for the best value.

I've been playing for quite a while now and it's hard for me to know what will serve me best for certain situations too, so don't feel like the Lone Ranger.

You have to ask yourself a few questions like, are you going to be taking lessons?, and if so, will you want a small protable amp to take with you? Do you live somewhere where loud sound will cause trouble for the people you live with? How about your neighbors?

I have a 15 watt tube amp that is WAY too loud to unleash in my single family two story home. There is no way to get to creamy tube goodness without a visit from the boys in blue.....15 true watts. Think about that.

It is a far different story when you start playing with other musicians. You will learn about the volume war all bands must go through before they start really palying together. ie. "bass player keeps sneeking over to his amp & turning up cause he can't hear himself, while all you can hear is him!" lol.

Cnosider buying a small practice amp first and hone your chops. Then as you start really developing a style you can look for another amp to play in a band. The Marshall M5 might even work for low volume rehersal, or check out the killer Blackstar HT-5... you can do a lot with one of these and maybe even plan on buying a 4x12 cab down the line to use with one of these when playing with others. Both of these amps will give you good overall tone & I think you have a headphone out along with an mp3 input with the Blackstar. Very cool for keeping the neighbors from putting reward posters for your capture around the neighborhood.

Good Luck!
