This site has been a lot of help and some good reading. The more I learn here on the site the I realize I have started with some bad habits. I'm trying to get the metronome and understand the timing of music. Playing scales to a metronome is what I'm having the biggest problem with. I've also been trying to learn music theory and reading music. Can anyone point me in the direction for some help in breaking the "bad Habits"?
Oh boy... BAD HABITS!!
Hi Guys, I joined the site a couple of months ago. I have been playing guitar for a year and have been working hard on learning the note locations on the fret board. I have also picked up some fun riffs to play and have had some fun playing my own things too.

With metronome practice start slow if you are having a difficult time. I recommend starting with quarter notes at a slower speed like 60 bpm. Play one note per beat and when you are comfortable with this increase the speed a little. Once you are ready do this same process but with eighth notes. Keep at it and you will get it down! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

Thanks for the info. I just sat and played for about 2 hours trying to keep time.. I must say it was funny at first but as I went my timing had improved. I can see why everywhere I read I see "use you metronome". Wish I would have done this from word go, but hey, those little bad habits i guess.
Is there a place where I maybe able to find someone local to jam with? Yea know like a post here on GT where you can find other people that are learning as well?

Get to know guitar players in your area! If you jam with people better than you, you can learn a lot and improve at a quicker rate! Remember everyone started as a beginner and there are guitar players that would be more than willing to jam with you!
