After careful thought about how to say this I've come to the following... I love this whole ambient tapping open tuning stuff but... I've seen Don Ross countless times and I've seen all the candy Rat boys... I went to europe in the 80's and managed to see a bunch of windham Hill guys on tour... I love all that stuff but... Here's the thing Derek - It's time for someone to step up and take this past where it is not just bang on the body of the guitar and flex a few hammer ons. What is missing is some true mixing of styles between open tuning noodling and songwriting. The Windham Hill guys were really on course to a new folk direction and it all came crashing down to where we seem to be now. tap tap hammer hammer pull off harmonic harmonic drum the body like it's a bongo. No offence meant as it is really nice sounding but it's time for someone to move past this and bring it all together. Not meaning to sound critical as you are acheiving great things just giving you a possible challenge to step away from the obvious. Maybe crazy but Nick Drake and Gordon Lightfoot and Richard Thompson might help to explain what I might be trying to say. After a few minutes, unless something changes, nothing changes...Just a bit of a challenge to you to challenge yourself. You obviously have huuuge talent

A very atmospheric piece, I really enjoyed it, great music to sit and reflect or meditate to. Love the guitar by the way what is it?

i feel so relaxed after listening, thanks for sharing!
what's that feedback-like sound? was it a controlled feedback from the amp? or keyboard?

Great Job Derek,

This song has a real ethereal mood, something you can totally relax to. I haven't spent much time learning to play open tuning but this sounds really good to me.

I just bought a Rainsong WS1100 and love, love, love this guitar. I've been playing a Yamaha FG-470 for 23 years and it's a great sounding guitar, but I always thought my next guitar was going to be a Taylor, until I played my WS.

Anyways, your JS sounded awesome - nice skills Derek!
