Taking classes with teachers wasn't good for me. I hated to go to class to be ask to repeat the same thing over and over while he watched, or sometimes did anything else. I can sit at home and repeat things over and over until I get it right without the need of a teacher looking at it. I'm the kind of person that is good at teaching oneself new things.
I really like the videos and overall classes here, they are great and to the point. Moreover they have an structure, where I took my classes was something like "go home and practice the A chord" and then next week "let's learn how the notes are arranged on the guitar". So it was confusing.
I liked a lot Lisa McCormick guitar chord basic training! On my previous classes I was told something about this but it was all confusing. When I began listening to her explanations of how chords are made, the triads, the I - VI notes, the keys and most common progressions (I - IV - V ) it all made sense and snapped in! Thank you!
On the down side, in Puerto Rico we listen a lot of music in Spanish. For example, I'm working on this song to learn how to play it, GRITA from Jarabe de Palo. It is a pretty easy song in terms of rhythm, a little hard for me as a beginner in terms of chords because it has a Bm on it. But I'm making progress, slow but steady.
It will be good if some Hispanic music could be added to the site. I'm telling you the site is super great. If you are new, you won't be disappointing.
