i had an idea last week of something i thought would be cool.
i downloaded a couple lessons and stored them on my computer like always.
well i just got myself a portable dvd player and came up with an idea that is pretty much a need in this house.
i downloaded the lesson on disc and put it in my dvd player to take to another room for a little peace and quiet to continue with my lessons.
to my suprise, the lessons dont work with either of the 3 portable dvd players i tried them on.
its not possible to take the computer in another room or on the road with me as i travel. it would be nice that we could download these lessons in a playable format for those of us who try to keep up on our lessions as we travel. any way of doing this that i havent tried, or is this even something you guys would even care about doing for us?
i tried to call you good folks last week at guitar tricks about this.
i left my number andwas assured by the very nice lady who answered the phone that i would get a return call reguarding my questions.
instead i got a email answering questions i didnt ask so i returned a email
letting you guys know that my questions were unanswered. never heard nothing back. im wondering if the new christmas gift will be the same way.
(thank you for the gift by the way. very useful and thank you to the instructor) to be able to take our lessons with us would be very nice indeed. this way in our busy lives we can still keep up with our lessons as time allows us.

Not sure how the whole lesson thing works as far as downloading, but I can tell you that making them into a format that you can download and take with you to different things (dvd player, ipod, other computer, ect) means that they will be able to be "stolen". People will download them and post them on the internet for others to get free, or maybe even sell them themselves at a discount.

Not the smartest thing to do in my opinion. Think of it like downloading music illegally.

Edit:......woah. Was curious and just found out this already exists on the internet. Not good :( I guess there will always be piracy out there.

I know, but you asked for them in a "playable format" which makes me assume they are in a different file type than is considered normal.

Hi electric circus,

The best solution for GT on the go is to download lessons and play on a laptop with the GT flash player: http://www.guitartricks.com/downloads.php

I have a small Acer One laptop thats very tiny and works well for GT. I have a set of speakers in my practice room I plug it into when practicing at home.

neal

thank you for the reply. a laptop isnt alway possible on road trips.
making these videos where we can change the format to where a dvd player
can play them would be very sweet. this way we can download them to disk
and play them on just about any device that plays common dvd movie formats. the change would be super easy to do w/o much effort at all.

the viewer is a free download . It is in the download section with the tuner etc. I have dial up and this is how I watch the lessons on my laptop . I go to a local hot spot and download my lesson then watch it with a viewer. I don't know what format they are sorry ?

man i remember the dial up days. i cant imagine viewing the lessons in dial up. i found that i could get AT&T's slowest high speed connection for $2 more a month over my dial up and switched. waaaay faster. look into that bro. i was pizzed when i found out it was just $2 more. all that time on dial up. now im on cable. look into it. slower high speed isnt much more than dial up, they just dont advertise it.

not to be a smart alek but... you can road-trip a guitar, but a laptop is too much? I have a netbook that I carry all over the country( I'm on the road alot) it's really small and portable and has wifi,, it was around $250..It does not have a dvd player so the flash player is perfect

lol nobody said i carried a guitar with me everytime.
you have to cash in on opportunity when you have it.
you dont have to have a guitar in front of you to learn.
people that believe that are loosing out on prime learning
opportunities. when thereis no time or hands on isnt possible,
reading and watching are there to still keep us taking in knowledge
for your lesson plan.
what i do find odd is the fact that the forumites are responding, but
those addressed have still yet to do so.

Hi electric circus,

I hear ya! :)

We are working on format flexibility but we don't have a DVD option right now.

you need a video converter to convert flash to mpeg, then a dvd creator software to play on the dvd player

Hi, everybody!
I am possibly one of the newest member of GuitarTricks family! Barely a little over three days old, ha, ha, ha!!!
Well, I remember reading what the great Chinese philosopher Confucious once said: "I hear and I forget
I watch and I remember
I do and I understand".
And that's what I believe is the main reason why GuitarTricks' videos are there for us to watch and learn, and then to play the guitar with the help of its excellent instructors!!!
Hep, hep, hurray!!!!!
