I've got a Peavey Classic 30 valve amp which I've been very happy with. For quite some time now it's been making the odd crackle and popping noise but recently it's been humming, crackling, popping and generally being very noisy.

I've also noticed that at odd times the volume seems to drop off a bit.

I use it with a Boss GT3 pedal board and I've tried disconnecting that in case it's causing the problem but that doesn't make any difference.

It seems like the amp has some problems, anyone got any ideas what it might be?

Thanks

I'd take it to a dealer if I was you. Poking around the insides of a tube amp can get you QUITE the shock.

Just a guess from this distance, but sounds like filter capacitors to me, sounds like $$$ to Dave, sounds like it's getting worse not better and it sounds like you better take Ras's advice, on the bright side, a good tech will be able to put in better caps and change the values to give you back a quieter amp than came out of the Peavey factory, good luck Dave......
