I'm a bit of a mess when it comes to remember friends and family birthdays, and I don't always remember to send Christmas cards. People who know me is used to it, so, nobody gets mad at me for that.

With Christmas cards (or e-cards), the usual thing is that I remember about it 2 or 3 days before deadline. So I start to think in photoshopping something and I end up putting a Santa Claus hat to any picture I find. Poor Steve Mcqueen and poor William Holden have gone through it, so I think enough is enough.

Today, I was watching a Chet Atkins video, his cover of Mr. Bojangles. I have downloaded the tab and start practicing, and to my surprise... it not as hard as I was expecting. So, I have thought, it would be a good idea to study this and have it ready for a few days before Christmas, so I can send my performance of this, in video, to friends and family.

That'll help me to set a limit and to force myself to practise until it's right. In other words a "good reason", apart from the pleasure of learning it: to do it well and in time.

The original is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQC-mZivibQ I think it's a perfect song for the Christmas Card purpose.

So I put this idea here. Chose a song that can mean some kind of challenge to you, (let's try not to repeat other people's choices) and have it ready for... let's say, December 22nd. That gives us 3 or 4 weeks to practice the song we've chosen. And then, send it to your family & friends. And of course, share it with us.

I'm just a Guitartricks user, so there's no Gold Top or any other prize involved here, this is just for fun.

Anyone in?

Regards from Spain :)

I would, but I have nothing to record with. Wouldn't even know what I would need to start doing that stuff, but I'd like to.

Well, a digital videocamera, or even a webcam. Try to get the sound right, for example, with a pod, or any other device that you can plug to the computer.

It all depends on the equipment that you have, but this is just recording a video for youtube. You can see, as a example, the ones that the users uploaded for the Gold Top Challenge.
