Hmmmm I might be wrong but here's what I think. You look at the chords you have in the song and you find the scale that has all those notes in it.

In this case G Em C D i think its an Em pentatonic scale since the Em pentatonic his built with these notes : E - F# - G - A - B - C - D.

Hopefully i'm right hehehe.

What you have is a typical "oldies" or R&B chord progression in the key of G.......The G major pentatonic scale will work well against this progression.

Hey Bernard!

Your progression is in the key of G, which has a relative minor of E minor. To get started I would stick with playing in E minor pentatonic as that will sound great over that progression and is relatively easy to play.

Once you work past E minor pentatonic, at that point you can start to integrate your other minor pentatonics into the mix. In this scenario, you can use A minor and B minor. A minor and E minor will sound the best but try out B minor and see what you come up with.

Good luck! :D

I recorded that progression and played around with the first 3 boxes of EM pentatonic starting on 12 fret. Maybe try that for starters
