My question is has anyone else tried these and how does it compare to learning from GT ?
Thinking about joining up
Hi, I'm a free member at the moment just been lurking to see what GT is all about and it looks pretty good to me. I tried to learn guitar about 20 years ago but never really took it seriously. I recently decided to give it another go and have borrowed some DVD's from a friend, he bought them from http://www.learnandmaster.com/guitar. I've been following the DVD for about 2 weeks now and they seem pretty good.
My question is has anyone else tried these and how does it compare to learning from GT ?

Well, I have never tryed the DVD's you have listed. But I have used a few others. and for the money Id go with GT.. I was a "Free member" for some time, but never really used the site much, untill about 3 weeks ago or so When I wanted to learn guitar again and went on and signed up for membership.
The DVD's you have might be good, but can you ask them questions and get real answers like you can here on GT?
I can tell you that for me, I went about a year or more trying to learn guitar from free internet sites, DVD's, books..pretty much gave up due to how boring it became.
Then a few weeks ago I picked up my guitar and wanted to learn how to play it, this time really learn how to play it.
Got myself a member ship here at GT, and have learned more in the past 2 or 3 weeks than I did in a year of free sites, books and DVD's.
Just my 2 cents.

Watching DVDs does get a bit boring. I think its because they choose really lame songs to start you off :-)

Nothing against DVDs, but one thing you can't get from a DVD is interaction with the content authors like you can here.
I see you took the plunge. Good luck on your journey.

Yeah. What he said. You might (and I say might) be able to get instructional videos of the quality you get here somewhere else. What you CAN'T get is forums where the instructors are present and interactive. You can watch a video and post "Hey, in such-and-such video, why do you do xyz?" and you get a response usually within a day. That's priceless.
