Where as these days I am not as into metal as I was as a young lad, I can't help but be excited for this. The Big 4 of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax got together to play a series of European shows and below is a link to the trailer of an upcoming DVD about one of the shows in Bulgaria. I was crazy into all these bands as a young guitar player, and watching this truly took me back to my days of wearing Metallica patches and Anthrax pins. Perhaps it may you too; if you aren't already there now.

I was upset when I found out they weren't coming to the US  How could they not bring this huge concert here? Oh well, I saw Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax last week! They played at the Gibson Amphitheater in Hollywood. Megadeth did the whole Rust in Peace album, plus some other songs. All 3 of them pretty much focused on all their old stuff. Great concert. Only shirt I didn't get was Anthrax....sold out.

Metallica used to be my favorite band when I started guitar. I "upgraded" to Megadeth in High School though haha. Metallica is just a little too different now.

I don't go to too many metal shows these days but I really, really would've loved to have seen this. Below are some links to what metal (or heavy guitar driven) bands I still do follow and links to where you can hear there music. Perhaps some of these will be the next Big 4. Happy Head Banging!

Killswitch Engage
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Umphrey's McGee
Mastodon
Clutch
The Mars Volta
Between the Buried and Me

Ellefson quote: "Doesn't matter how big you get, it's still all a battle of the bands."

Classic.

Doug...the same happened to me...For me, I spent years doing metal as a living and still have a piece of that but I got so burnt on it, I couldn't listen to metal for years. I've been back to listening to my old stuff a little more lately. Heck, that Honda Odyssey commercial got me listening to Priest today....

I actually was unaware of him being back in Megadeth. Interesting.

Metal was something I identified with as a young kid and sought some sort of comfort in it's aggression and attitude. I haven't played in too many metal bands but I always loved the music and learned to play guitar by playing along with Metallica records. My tastes have always varied but a part of me will always be metal. I honestly feel most guitar players started out in this world.

Thanks for the response! :D
