Hi all!

I am new to the world of guitar, but have been progressing well with this site and loving every minute. :)

However i have a question.
I am on Guitar Fundamentals 1, on chapter 4 playing 'more simple melodies'.
I have learnt all the notes on each string that chris has taught, i so far know 4 notes on each string (including the open note) appart from the G string that has 3. However on chapter 4's "Riff on the G & D strings" Chris plays the G string on the 5th fret but never mentions what note this is.

I am trying to learn the notes i am playing before i concentrate on 'just playing the song'.

Can anyone tell me this note? or am i missing somthing?

Many Thanks, :)

Luke

That would be a C....(the same note as the 1st fret on the B string above it.)

If you count up 5 half steps (frets) from G, you arrive at C.

You're welcome. And you're not dumb. There's, no such thing as a dumb question, except one that isn't asked. I'm a firm believer in the premise that the only way to get answers is by asking questions...
(which might be why I ask so many dumb ones :) )

Thanks again Samata, now i can progress knowing the notes instead of just performing the actions (I find it helps a lot) :)

Im sure there will be many questions from me in the future :D

I applaud your interest in learning the notes. I will have you ahead of others.

That said, I would focus on learning to play. If you make it too much like work you might quit!

One can also go to the chord finder. Place the cursor on a string and move it along. That will bring up the note on that fret and string.
