well, the tone control varies high vs low, treble/bass mix
the toggle determines which pickup or combination of p/u's are on and being used

Hi, on your Strat, the volume control is exactly that, it controls the volume of each pickup or combination of pu's, you have 2 tone controls, that control only the middle pu and neck position pu, the bridge pu has no tone control, also tone controls only reduce the treble, they do not add bass or attenuate any frequency, the pu toggle on a strat like yours should have 5 positions, pos 1, the rear, towards the bridge pos is the bridge pick up only, pos2 is bridge and middle pu's combined ( I love that sound) pos 3 is middle pu only, 4 middle and neck pu's combined, pos 5 neck pu only, does that answer your questions? If not feel free to ask again OK
