So I completed GF1 and GF2. It took long meticulous months and I feel I have the basics down in the fundamentals department If you will.

I've always had an interest in this type of contemporary music and curious if anyone, perhaps the GT instructors can direct me to the right avenue.

is that blues? Jazz? funk? once I can get an idea, I can start on that particular course and go from there.

GT has been excellent. keep up the great site and work!

Looks like fun!

I think you would do well to start with rock level 1. After that, I would recommend moving to Lisa's fingerpicking series.

That is modern R&B (rhythm & blues), kind of a combo of soul, funk & jazz.

He is playing an E-flat minor 7th (i), B-flat minor 7th (v) & C-flat major 7th (VI).

I have tutorials about those chord shapes here:

http://www.guitartricks.com/tutorial.php?input=501

Using the shapes you learn in my tutorial, you can play what the guitarist in the video played:

E |-------------------------------------------------|
B |----7-9-9-------9------4-3s4--3s4--3s4---4-------|
G |---6----6------6------3--2s3--2s3--2s3----3------|
D |--8-----8-----6------4---3s4--3s4--3s4-----4-----|
A |-6-----------8------2----1s2--1s2--1s2------2----|
E |------------6------------------------------------|

Hope that helps. Let us know how it goes! Have fun. :)
