Hi all,

I'm new to the site and am just starting out. I have an old classical guitar that I'm using for now but am looking to buy a good starter guitar. I'm more interested in the Gibson 335 style.

I plan on going straight to the blues section once I've completed the fundementals. That is what I'm the most interested in. Eventually, I'd like to learn slide as well.

I've been checking out the Oscar Schmidt OE30 Delta King guitars. You can usually find them for about $150 or so. They get great reviews too. What are your thoughts?

I have to admit that I know nothing about P/U's and what is good and whats not. I know I'll learn that eventually, but I couldn't pick up a guitar and tell you which one is better than the other one. I know you can change the action and stuff to make a guitar sound better and easier to play, but since that is the case, I just don't see what makes one guitar better than the next one in the same price range.

thanks for helping a noob.

They do seem to get good reviews. I have a Washburn 12 string, and I generally think Washburn is an ok guitar. I have a friend that has a Washburn electric (forget the model) and he likes it quite a bit. Nuno Bettencort even has a sig model (I probably spelled his name wrong.

Never having played one, I'm going to guess it's probably fine for a first guitar. What you will want to invest in is a good amp. That's going to define your sound more than the guitar. In my experience, starter amps leave something to be desired.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.
