Heres what it comes down to, heres a basic practice schedule...

Scales

15mins G Major scale Pos 1
15mins G Major scale Pos 2
....
Until u have done all the patterns
(8 x 15mins = 2hours)

Arrpeggios

15mins G Major (2 or 3 positions)
15mins G minor (2 or 3 postions)
etc
(2 x 15mins = 30mins)

Techniques

Here u can do anything u need to work on, steve vai used to do things like trill non stop for half an hour, i suggest work up to speed on something like that...
but mostly spend 5 minutes per technique and move on...

Bends
Dive bombs
Pinch Harmonics
Harmonics
Trills
Runs
Chromatics
Genre Specific techniques......

It all depends on how much time u have and how much energy u put in CHOW !!
