Where to have band practices?

Well, Im starting up a band with some friends just to jam together and have a good time. Nothing to serious just all in fun and play music.
Where are good places to practice if you cant pratice at a house/garage?

I have some friends that rented some kind of a storage unit that was geared towards bands renting them out. I don't know what all the amenities are (if anything beyond electricity and light), but, it seemed to work well for them.
