Each month, www.guitartricks.com brings you news from the wonderful world of guitars – some good, some bad and some ugly. This month we bring you news on iPhone accessories for the guitarist, Glastonbury surprises, the Warriors of Rock setlist, a new amp from Peavey and more...

Finally... Castiv Media have solved the recent problem facing technophile guitarists – how to use the myriad of guitar related applications on the iPhone whilst having both hands occupied playing the guitar. Enter the 'Guitar Sidekick' which is a holder for your iPhone that hooks on to the headstock of your guitar just behind the nut. One model accommodates all types of guitar, so no concerns there. It can be set up for either portrait or landscape display in a couple of seconds and is adjustable for other popular ranges of touchscreen 'phone as well as other devices. Finally all those downloadable tabs and chord charts might actually be usable, and at $29.99 RRP pretty reasonable too.

Muse have brought the second day of the Glastonbury Festival to a close and gave fans disappointed by U2 dropping out a surprise. U2 were to headline the UK festival but had to cancel when Bono was rushed in to emergency surgery and ordered to rest for two months. Muse gave a typically explosive live performance culminating in a rendition of 'Where the Streets have no name', for which they were joined on stage by the Edge for the encore.

Following up on last month's news that Activision have confirmed that Guitar Hero 6 will be released worldwide in Autumn 2010, a set list for 'Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock' has been released. There are classics from ZZ Top, Dire Straits, KISS, Queen and many more as well as a slightly sharper edge thanks to tracks by Children of Bodom, Avenged Sevenfold and Rammstein. The latest incarnation of Guitar Hero is set for release 28th September.

Peavey has released a 1x12 version of their well respected 6505 line. The 6505 112 Plus combo uses the same circuitry as the rest of the 6505 range in a 60 watt form that is a little more friendly for home and small venue use. Five 12AX7 preamp tubes and a pair of 6L6GC power-amp tubes provide the tonal foundation, and patented circuitry such as Peavey's Resonance control shape the combo's voicing. The 6505 Plus 112 combo features the Peavey MSDI microphone-simulated direct interface, allowing users to route the amp's signal directly to a recording device or mixing console. Additional features include three-spring reverb, effects loop and external speaker outputs. The 6505 is the backline supporting Trivium, Machine Head, Bullet For My Valentine and many more... so if that sonic ballpark is your bag, check one out...

Actress Sandra Bullock surprised audiences at a fund raising concert for flood relief when she played the guitar there. Bullock stunned the crowd as she pulled up a stool, whipped out an acoustic guitar across her lap and played rock band Deep Purple’s song ‘Smoke on the Water’, in Nashville, Tennessee. The fund-raising concert was organised by actress Faith Hill and her husband Tim McGraw, aiming to raise $2 million for The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in response to the flooding in early May. Apparently for an actress, she's not a bad guitar player.
