Hey Guys I was just wondering if you could help me with a guitar issue , I realize that my guitar progress is going well but often the trouble I think I have with my guitar is the quality of the sound and thus my guitar in general

Now I have a Robson acoustic guitar that I bought in a best buy store I got it on special for 109.99 $ and I think it was a mistake cause ever since I have started playing yes I have learned a lot but I'm disappointed because I often get buzzing noises .

I also never got the guitar properly setup like many recommended me to especially since i bought it from a non musical instrument store and overall I feel that I could of spent a few more bucks and maybe buy a more known brand acoustic .

So anyways to get right to the point I'm wondering would a proper guitar setup improve on a non brand acoustic such as my own a great deal or should I consider perhaps get a brand new guitar .

My only problem is I'm on a limited budget and can probably only spend 200 bucks at most anyways any advice on this would be great .

By the way this is the store I'm considering getting a new guitar should I require one very soon .

If your getting a buzz because the strings are touching the metal frets -The guitar does not have an adjustable bridge ( Like most acoustics )
BUT you might might be able to raise the strings slightly by Slackening the truss rod, which is usually an allen bolt found inside the body at the bottom of the neck
I would try a quarter of a turn - re-tune it and see if the buzzing stops
if you always take the lazy route

Hey what's up?

If you're on a budget I recommend doing a setup yourself, I did and now I do it for the guitarist at church and a few others.
Try this link: http://adirondackguitar.com/Resources/acoustic_set_up.htm

Whether or not you purchase another guitar, you may still need a good set-up, so why not learn on a guitar you consider replacing?

All the best

Thanks for the feedback guys , Reality is I'm not a good handyman and rather not take any chances to fix the acoustic when it could get possibly worse so I will just take it down to a store I know that does setups for 40 bucks tomorrow granted I believe it will take a week pending on how busy they are .

This is good advice, though you might want to wait until you already have your upgrade guitar. Just in case!

Also, I noticed you post elsewhere about maybe putting down the guitar until you could upgrade. All I can say is, don't get all hung up on how much your guitar cost. Chances are very high it needs some set up, but, unless your neck is absolutely warped, crooked or twisted (in which case you can return it) every guitar is capable of being decently set up. Guaranteed.

Next thing you know, you'll be a gear snob!! :D

Here's an example. I recently picked up a "Grayson" brand acoustic guitar for $150 new (this one normally runs $350+). Grayson is just another Quality-Impaired Private Label guitar mass produced in China somewhere. With rosewood back & sides, spruce top, mahogany neck and piezo pup under the bridge, though, it had the fundamentals of a decent guitar.

But it played like crap. At first! However, a little fretwork and set up and now it plays great. I suspect you'll be surprised what can be done with your Robson.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.
