Ok so I got back into playing the guitar and bought a Fender Suqier, Fender SP-10 amp, cord, strap, stand and carrying bag for $200.00. Did I do wrong buying this? What is the down fall on the Suqier? It seems to play good so far but will there be problems I need to know later down the road? It will be many years before I can upgrade to a Gibson so I hope this one will hold up for awhile. Don't beat around the bush and tell me if I bought junk or was this a good deal?

I strarted with a Squier. Nothing wrong, at all. The more you improve the more you want to play a better guitar. So you will buy more and more. At the end, when we will play very very well, we will discover that we can use any guitar.

Nothing at all wrong with Squier. They are good guitars and I know of people that play professionally with them. I had one that I gave to my Dad. He gigs with his, too. And it has some of the best action I've ever gotten on a guitar. I did upgrade the pups, but that wasn't really necessary.

What you will want to upgrade asap is you amp. The guitar could last you a life time.

Thanks for the in-put. I thought this was a good deal so I went for it. I know the amp is not much but it was new and all the other amps they had in this pawn shop was old and beat all to heck. What amp do you recommend for $200.00 or less? Used amp's in pawn shops scare me with not knowing what they been put through.

Which are your preference? Nowdays you can use just some modelling software even and some of them are really great.

I feel redundant saying this all the time, but once again: The Fender Vibro Champ XD!! *Queue the balloons, confetti and fireworks!*

http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=2331000000

These would run about $200 new.

Awesome little amp. Wouldn't be enough power to play with acoustic drums, but the only thing I can say is disappointing about it is that there is no channel switch. You could go up to the Super Champ and get that.

You will not need another amp until you are looking for something gig-worthy.

Thanks for the information you two. Nice looking amp and not to over priced. I will never been looking to gig. Just want some good sound to play alone with some back tracks. I am just to old to be gigging.

We can always dream! (46 here :p ) Other folks will give you alts for amps, but I've got mfx pedals, TS808, MT2... but straight into my VC... well i am disappointed in my Tube Screamer. I only use it for when I NEED to channel switch. Suit yourself, but do it well :)

People must hold onto their Vibro Champs! I called 23 pawn shops and not one of them has one. Looks like I will have to save up and order a new one from best buy.

Hot pursuit on this Vibro. Found a brand new one on sale for $155.00 but missed their closing time. Only had one left so they put my name on it and I will pick it up Monday morning when they open their doors. I did find a used one but he wanted $165.00. No brainier there huh?

Well it was not hard after your great advice. I checked out some video's on you-tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehD3TgcE5G8 this guy has a 3 part hands on review of this amp. Have to say it is one heck of an amp for the price.

Thanks again for your help.

Grambo,

Thanks for the info but I picked up my Vibro Champ XD this morning when they opened their doors.

Razbo,

I can't thank you enough for recommending this Fender Vibro Champ XD. All I can say is WOW!!!! Picked her up this morning for $167.99 tax, title, tag, out the door. Now all I need to do is figure out all the cool stuff these knobs have to offer then find the right setting to play normal for now. Once I get good then I can rock with the other sounds. Thanks again for your help!

I have a 80's squire at my mates studio and its very tasty!
The new ones are ok as well - better to get a squire than a other strat copy as some are poor!
