This was a song in the Wizard Of Oz.

I don't know if that's what you're talking about.

I think Faith Hill sang a version of it.

The original was sang by Judy Garland from the Wizard of Oz. I thought you meant the remake, since this a guitar forum lol sorry.

I think that's the one.
Blackmore used to play it like intro (on the GUITAR :D) on his concerts with rainbow, so that's why I asked

thanks

There is a recent remake by Eva Cassidy. Its got some cool fingerpicking acoustic. That might be what you mean

If anybody's interested here's chords/tab. I know the chords don't line up with the lyrics (this was copied and pasted) but it's all there for you to figure out.

Over the Rainbow
performed by Eva Cassidy

(capo 1st fret)

G >> Em Bm G7(III) C Cm(III) G G7 >> C
Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
C Cm(III) G >> Em Am7 D7sus D7 G C D7
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
G >> Em Bm G7(III) C Cm(III) G G7 >> C
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
C Cm(III) G >> Em Am7 D7sus D7 G C D7
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true

G C
Someday I'll wish upon a star
D G >> Em C D7sus D7
and wake up where the clouds are far behind me
G F#7
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Bm D+ Am7 D7
away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me

[break, then repeat second section]

G >> Em Bm G7(III) C Cm(III) G G7 >> C
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
C Cm(III) G >> Em Am7 D7sus D7 G
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
C
If happy little bluebirds fly
D7 C5add9 Ab(IV) G(III)
above the rainbow, why oh why can't I?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:
Roman numerals in parentheses indicated the fret for a barred chord.

The ">>" notation means to "walk" from the first chord to the second:

G >> Em G7 >> C
E---3--------0--|---1--------0---
B---0--------0--|---0--1--3--1---
G---0--------0--|---0--------0---
D---0--------2--|---0--------2---
A---2--------2--|---2--0--2--3---
E---3---2----0--|---3------------

Unusual chords:

D7sus x00213 D+ x1x332 C5add9 335533

The original song was in "The Wizard of Oz," but I have heard a version by Malmsteen that was pretty damn cool. I haven't heard, but have heard of, a version by Steve Vai as well. But the Malmsteen version was nice; it was not his usual blistering speed but a more emotionally inspired slow yet effective song. Anyways, I don't know which version you're talking about. I am sure that there are dozens of remakes of the song, considering it is pretty old and fairly popular.
