What is a harmonizer?
Anyone care to shed some light on Harmonizers? I'm trying to watch some youtube vids, but they are not explaining what a harmonizer really is doing, rather demo's

The advent of digital processing made some amazing things possible. Like changing the pitch of a note fed into a harmonizer into another note a fixed interval away from the original. The new note is then mixed with the original, and sent out as a single signal.
That's a bit over simplified, but it catches the essence.

That's pretty much it and it's selectable. You choose a key and the interval off the key to harmonize.

So you're getting the mixture of two notes so to speak?

So like an octaver, but instead of just octaves, it does different intervals that harmonize?

If you've heard any songs by Queen, you've heard a harmonizer.
