Hi, Just bought a second hand taylor with gold plated grover tuning machines. The tuners seem to have some slack in them, a little movement before I feel tension in the tuner and there is any change in string tension. This doesn't happen on my other guitars. Is this normal? Thanks. Dave

Without more detail, I can only guess. Check to see if the buttons are loose on their shafts.

There's a small screw that holds the button onto the shaft of each tuner. If these become loose, the buttons will have excessive slop in the way they fit.

Gently tighten the screws, and see if that helps.

Thanks lordathestrings, I thought that little screw just adjusted the amount of tension and didn't know that loose enough a slack would develope. I gently tightened and it worked.
