Hi,

this might be going to sound a bit weird, but
I am looking for a semi acoustic guitar which has a smaller neck than the average guitar.
Preferably a Spanish.
I have the smallest hands that I know out of all the people that I know.
I'm pretty confident my hands will not grow anytime soon.. so..

what I have problems with is reaching certain chords, especially barred chords..and all though it's been getting slightly better, I just have a lot of trouble doing that on a Spanish acoustic or even an electric.
Even my 13 year old brother's got bigger hands than I do and he's pretty small.
to put it into perspective.. I'm 28 so I don't expect my hands to grow anytime soon.

Thanks a lot :)

I kind of have the same problem. I've always noticed my hands were smaller, or fingers were shorter, than what they should be for me to reach certain frets or chords properly. For a "spanish" guitar, I'm assuming you want a nylon string guitar? Those usually have larger necks to begin with. I have a flamenco guitar whose BODY is smaller/thinner to play that particular style of music, but the neck is still kind of large. Steel string guitars usually have thinner necks though.

yeah, it might help to get a steel stringed guitar then..
I have a Spanish acoustic and I love the sound of it..
but I notice a huge difference in the speed I manage to switch chords and the ability to make use of bar chords. I always find it easier to do that on an electric.
The other side of me wanting a semi acoustic is cause it's easier to get a clean recording of that than it is to get a clean recording of an acoustic with my current set up and my ability to be able to change that over the course of the coming months/years :)
so yeah.. something with a smaller neck would be awesome.
I saw some semi acoustics which had a different fret/neck ratio but I always wondered if that was what I was looking for and if that would not affect the sound and mostly the quality of the sound a lot for the worse..
