Thinking so. Too nice not too. Guess my explorer build will have to wait. In the mean time, I will most likely strip my Jackson and do another airbrush job.

Hey, that's the new "distressed" look. You know it's already worn in (or out?) for you. That costs extra!

Seems like I remember you mentioning this. I'd have been interested in this. You might have gotten closer to that old 80s rock tone with an explorer type guitar. Of course the LP style guitar will get some of those types of tones also.

When are you gonna practice?! :) Just kidding! Have fun with all of it.

I actually catch a lot of grief from my friend who wants to jam with me for this very thing. I spend too much time playing WITH my guitars rather than PLAYING them.

Good job Rick! :)

Can't wait to hear about it. I too have been saving my money plus selling off my gear to get one ultimate tube combo. Happy to say I've just put the check in the mailbox.

Now we're gonna be one happy campers. :D

Thanks... It's been tough, but a good test of character. Trying to do it old school... Actually save for it rather than the instant gratification.

What are you finding difficult about the SG?

I'm still going to build it. I have more things to look into. I have no doubt about the building of the body. What I'm thinking about now though is, I'd really like to dress it up a bit and do a nice binding around the body. Something like the attached Ibanez. However, the neck I've purchased for it, does not have matching binding.

my first guitar was a Stagg Strat, after that I got an Ibanez RG and now I own a PRS; the SG is especially different at the bridge, not to mention it's top-heavy! it just something I've got trouble getting used to, I rarely play the SG, allthough I love the heavy sound

I was always thinking of getting myself a Les Paul someday but now I'm not so sure anymore..

Les Pauls aren't top heavy at least. The TOM bridges (I find) make palm muting easier.

Ha! I can dig that! I've been avoiding a trip to the music store to check out a new Strat. I want a MIA Standard with maple fretboard. But I want it too much right now, and will end up buying it on the spot. :p

IT IS HOME!!!

So far I really like it a lot. Awesome tone. Just feels like a solid guitar all the way around.

The only thing so far that is a bit of a negative is that I'm not able to get the action as low as I'd like before it gets string buzz really bad, so the action is a bit higher on this than my other guitars.

Can't wait to crank it though my tube amp. Thing is going to rip!
Right now just playing through my Podx3 and headphones and or my solid state amp.

I find the same thing with the shorter scale length. I believe your other geets are all 25 1/2 scale, and the Prophecy is 24 3/4?? The action is a bit more "floppy" at the same gauge, so that might be where you are picking up some buzz. My Dean and Gibson (24 3/4) are also a bit higher than my Strat (25 1/2).

This is just a feature of the shorter scale. :)

Good job Rick. :)

As to the action on the guitar I find it hard to get close action on any guitar so I think it's really a fallacy. I would check the relief of the neck and check the frets for leveling though.

I have fairly high actions on my guitars and I have more muscles in my fingers than my arms. :p
