Acoustic/Electric Purchase

THinking about buying an acoustic electric.

If possible, I'm looking to spend around $500 for an acoustic electric plus an amp.

Been reading some reviews on the internet and it seems the Yamaha APX500 is a pretty solid guitar for the price. I was thinking about this package with a crate ca15 amp. Any thoughts on this combo?

Any other guitars/amps I should be looking @?

Not sure about that combo, But I play an Ibanez Talman, which I love and I use a Line 6 Spider IV 15 Watt, which in my opinion rocks and makes both my guitars sound great.

The Guitar and amp together were just shy of 400.00.

Good luck and I am sure someone with more experience will chime in to lend their expertise on the subject.

I find it is handy to look at everything that appeals to me in my price bracket. Then follow up each interesting possibility by checking what ever reviews I can find. Some of the seller sites, like MF have both the instrument and reviews on it. I will also use Harmony Central http://www.harmonycentral.com/index.jspa (which is pretty FU'd right now and hard to use) and also Ultimate Guitar http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/

I like the review forums for research because you can get some really straight up information regarding pros and cons. You also get some morons, and people that have played for 3 days leaving reviews, so be aware.

I tried using harmony central but every time I searched for something I couldn't find it, seemed like they were having database issues or something.

Didn't know about MF, thank you very much! I'll be using that website quite a bit I'm sure.
