Hey all in Guitar Trick Land!!!
Happy easter to everyone. Heres my story in VERY short form. Played in the 80's...need I say more. Put the guitar down for several years until my son was born and found it in my closet and I picked it up again. Forward 13 years later and low and behold I am rhythm guitar player in a band at the ripe old age of 36 playing some golld ol Rock n Roll. Then Katrina hit, then a year later I get diagnosed with Cluster Migranes, 5 herniated disks in my back, some muscle and Nerve damage, nothing too big, huh?
Being on disibility for the last 2 years has let me get back into my passion of building guitars again, slower than before, and I get lots of time to play. The only problem is I am stuck in such a massive rut, its MADD!!!! Hence, I am here on this site. I can play rhythm, I can play leads, I can play some scales...Ask me what I am playing or to improvise something, ya may as well take me to NASA's warehouse and tell me you need me to build the next space shuttle and the launch is in 3 months...and the directions are in a foreign language. I cant tell ya how or what in the world I am doing.
I am so sick of playing the same songs over and over again, or learning songs and not knowing why the solos go there or why I can improvise something different. I just about am finishing building a KILLER rig, for home at least, and am really wanting to get out of this rut so i can just pick up my guitar and play music.
Who can give me a good place to start so that I dont have to go ever all the stuff I already know, but not so difficult that it will explain what I am doing. I have gone through most of fundimentals 2 and pretty much know everything they show, but still dont understand the relivance of it. I guess I am a bit confused on the site also. Any help would be greatly appreciated and anyone wanting to see any of my work, I have the links below on my MySpace page pics.
Thanks Guys,
-J

Sounds like you need to learn more about the theory side of music - The next logical step after fundementals 2 is to pick a style and do the course for it. there will most likely be a lot of stuff you already know, but there will be other things to fill in the gaps.
"I learned a long time ago that one note can go a long way if its the right one and it will probably whip the guy with 20 notes." Les Paul - 2002
