Ram Jam: Black Betty

Is it just me, or is this tune all off timing? Especially on those call & answer sections where there is the short drum solo and the guitar does that D to E slide with the B pentatonic...

I've gone so far as to play it (the recording) against both the GT metronomes and I'm pretty convinced it might be a hack job in the mixing room. Or is my timing just that far gone in my old age??

Good! I thought it was just me. No amount of foot tapping or counting or swaying body spasms can keep my coming in precisely when buddy does. :D
