Mixing and mastering distorted guitars

Or metal in general. First let me say hey guys, most of you may not remember me but I used to come here alllll the time :) hope all is well. Lately I've been delving into the world of self production. I pretty much have recording down, still toying around with that but now I need help with EQing and compression and stuff. I use adobe audition 1.5 currently and the style of music is metal. If ayone can help me out I;d greatly appreciate it. I've looked everywhere online for advice and I can't seem to find anything geared towards beginers like myself. Thanks a lot guys and gals.
