I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm "trying" to learn how to play guitar so I thought this would be a good place to start. I'm a 19 year old from GA and I want to start my own band in the Athens music scene...someday.
Here's my equipment: An Ibanez GRX 40 strat lookalike and a Peavey Bandit 65 amp...and a Furby from what you can see here as my first sound effect I've contributed :D

i bought a slide the other day when i took my guitar in for a setup because there's a blues workshop coming up around feb 21. now if i could just figure out how to use it hehehe... i actually don't want to learn slide all that bad; i'm taking the blues workshop because (from what i've heard) blues has the coolest lead improv... *shrug*

I'll reserve the "color commentary" as I don't want to make poor Ed scramble to edit it. Oh, the naughty naughty jokes that are running through my brain right now...
Anyway, yeah... I use a deep socket ratchet bit as a slide.

It's a metal one, and it's like a slide, except it vibrates, so you get a sound close to a laser, if it's a high pitch, or a motor if it's low... There are several vibration speeds, so he gets also the same effects than Van HALEN had with his poundcake screw driver... It sounds weird, and totally crazy, but that guy is a genius, I swear!!

A friend of mine has an old toy "ray gun" that makes all kinds of odd noises. He uses that with his guitars to get all kinds of fun sounds. Of course on several occaisions I've seen him spend twenty minutes or more seeing what kinds of sounds he could get out of an old BOSS delay pedal... all the while giggling like a mad man.
