From the tome you said your looking for, getting something with EMG's might be a pretty good way to go. Have both the chunk when needed and the defined clean sound is one of the key traits of an EMG.
Alright so can't you do the whole routing thing for active pickups in a guitar with out them just in case i end up wanting the ATF3000 because of looks I'm not sure but i almost seem to remember hearing you could and for a neck pickup in case i end up getting the ATF3000 and replacing the pickups with passive ones for a neck pickup which would be better for the sound i want?The Dimarzio Air Norton, the DMT Time Capsule pickup in it, or the Rockfield Mafia Neck pickup
