Can't really tell what you are talking about from the pic. Are you concerned about the fretboard overhang? It's common on 22 fret bolt ons. Another cost cutting measure in production so they only have to build one size neck and then put on a 21 or 22 fret fingerboard.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

there is a slight gap between the guitar neck and the body.

At the very, very end, right? From the last fret to the end before the pick up? This is normal on this type of neck.

I can't see anything to worry about - I think Razbo's diagnosis is spot on. If the neck were not correcty seated in the neck pocket, you would see it around back near the neackplate - the heel.... also, if the neck was not sitting right you would have trouble playing it.
I'm not near it at the moment but from memory my strat is the same.

I've no experience with the micro tilt, but it seems that if you tilt the neck, it's no longer going to sit flush in the pocket. Thus, you have to have a gap somewhere. Physics, y'all. :)
I'm pretty sure if you take that to your local music store, they can tell you if anything is suspect just by having a quick look at it over the counter.
