Amaj7-Bmin7-C#min7-Bmin7

would that be a I-ii-iii-ii progression? i can't tell since it's been a while since i've played

and assuming it's in the key of Amaj, would a C#min7 denote a iii or a III? because it's the major third in the scale but it's being played as a minor 7th, and that's why im confused

Yes, assuming A is the root and home key.

Minor chords are lower case Roman numerals, major chords upper case. Deviating from a chord built on a note of the major scale results in a "flat" chord.

C#min7 is labelled iii. If is was C minor, then it would be b(flat)iii.

If it was C# major, then it would be III.

If it was C major, then it would be b(flat)III.

I would label it as such:

Imaj7 - IImi7 - IIImi7 - IImi7

There are many shorthand ways to do this, but based on my education and experience; this is what I would write out or see from someone else.

Hopefully this helps. :o
