new kid from Oregon

Hello my name is Luke. I am a novice with the guitar, but am very eager to learn. I'm a junior is high school and am in a bigging guitar class. I am working towards learn to play smoke on the water, however I do not yet understand notes, keys, and scales. I can play simple major chords, and some bar chords.

If any one can assist me with info on notes, keys, scales, tabs and chords, the help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I understand. I hope to sign up within a month or so. Finances do not permit me to do this sooner. However, I am working with my teacher and a couple other students and am committed to learning. When working with a friend last night, studying keys (or notes) and how they relates to the fret board. Its now starting to make sense and I am learning the EADGBE and ABCDEFG b and # of the guitar's alphabet.

I am pleased to say that I now have a full access account.. The amount of information on this site is amazing! Most of my questions are being answered. such as "what is the difference between scales and chords and how to build chords. And to think, my guitar teacher said I should not bother with a website that costs a little money. you guys are great! :)
