How can I isolate vocals on this song?
I want to get just the vocals, or as much of them as possible, for "Romeo and Juliet" by Dire Straits. I want to record all the guitar/bass parts myself and use his vocals....cuz mine won't work haha.

Reverse Karaoke... Maybe there is something put there like that? Short of getting the separate tracks, there's no way that I know of. Best you could do is isolate the vocal frequencies as well as possible. Keep those and eliminate the rest.

There is no way to COMPLETELY remove the vocals from a recording unless you are lucky enough to obtain the original tracks for the song. This is not impossible, and I have been fortunate enough to get the full sessions to songs by Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Queen, and The Beatles among others. The only way I know to do that is to do a center cancel on the recording. I honestly have not done this myself, but in the center of most recordings the vocals and guitar solos are mixed in the center. If you remove the center from a track, you will only hear the vocals faintly. Again, this can very from song to song.
Your best bet is to find KARAOKE versions of songs. There are many plug-ins and expensive things out there that claim to be able to remove vocals; some with more success than others. Best of luck! ;)

Well I don't want to remove the vocals. I want to do the exact opposite, which is keep ONLY the vocals. Guess it won't be 100% possible though.

Yikes! There have been a few posts lately in regards to removing vocals, so I misread your message because of that. I honestly don't know how you would do that at all, unless you were lucky enough to get the master vocal track. People who do remix work do so by obtaining the original masters (most of the time) in some fashion. I unfortunately cannot point you in any direction to do that. If you search online, I am sure you can find just the vocals to some songs you like.
